Karen's Portfolio
Karen Silverstrand is a local artist and
self-taught. She learned mostly how to
draw from reading manga and batman
comics. Her art mediums have ranged
from skateboards and canvas to
tattoos.
She mostly works with pen and ink,
acrylic painting, and mixed media in
traditional and non-traditional displays.
She loves using glitter and tries to
incorporate it in most of her work.
She gets most of her inspiration from
graphic novels and comics, vintage
photographs, and her experiences in
the Marines and living in Southern
California.
She currently shows art at Gallery 23
located in Parrish Studios. She has
won various awards for her art and
currently has two pieces on permanent
display at the Bellevue VeteransAffairs outpatient clinic.
